Any recommendations for replacing polybutylene piping in the Baton Rouge area?

It’s not going to break. I have it in my house too. Hard to get insurance on it but if you aren’t moving, it won’t break. Those problems are in the north and they would have already broke if they were gonna.

Go with expandable pex!
That would be PEX-A or PE-RT with ASTM F1960 compression fittings.
As for re-piping a whole house, I don't know if I would unless I had solid evidence of a problem or the potential for one. Like all such systems, vast majority of any failure is in improper installation. Polybutylene might be susceptible to chlorine in the water supply but there is very little hard empirical evidence to back that up. I have been replacing copper with PEX-A and PE-RT in my house, I have the luxury of having my own equipment and time to do it though and it's only the materials I'm paying for as I go.

Just replumbed our entire house with pex. Poly had us down to 2 insurance underwriters willing to issue policies. Total cost was $11k by All American Plumbing out of Kenner. They did an amazing job.

My plan was to replace it as I renovate the bathrooms and house. I don’t think there will ever be an issue with the piping itself but it will always be looked down upon when you go to sell.
