All of a sudden over the past 2-3 weeks, we have been having red ant issues in just one room of our home. My kids' bathroom is the problem area. If they put their dirty clothes on the floor versus in the hamper, ants find their way into the clothes by the dozens.

It hasn't rained here in a while, so I would guess that maybe they are looking for a moist, cooler place to live? I checked outside the bathroom and the brick exterior shows no signs of anthills.

Besides spraying chemicals in their bathroom under the shoe molding, any suggestions?

Had a similar issue with ants last summer in my laundry room and master bath, although not fire ants. Rather than spray chemicals, you should look into getting some Terro Liquid Ant Baits and putting those out. Solved my problem and I haven't seen any again inside since

This week has been bad with the ants in my kitchen. Not going for food but if there was a cup left out they were all over it. The baits suggested here have seemed to work.

My house too. If one speck of food is dropped there will be 30+ aggressive ants on it within a half our out of nowhere.

Thank you for all of the replies and suggestions. I'll give the bait a shot and see what happens.

You can also get Terro in a bottle. I like it better because it lets the ants get at the bait all the way around it. I don't put it on the cardboard box pieces they give you with it because it seems to dry out quickly. I instead put it on metal or glass, I use a cheap glass coaster. If the ants don't seem interested in it mix a bit of olive oil with it. Terro is basically sugar and borax. If the ant species you have is a protein ant, they won't be as interested in the sugar bait. The oil gives a bit of fat/protein that will attract them.

I’m having this same problem also. Not just in my house but these ants are getting in our vehicles also. Any recommendations on what I can use to put down in the yard?
