Low-tech stud finder: Find an electrical outlet or switch. Figure out if the outlet or switch is nailed to the left or right side of the stud (if you remove the plate cover you should be able to see) then measure 16” O.C. from there.

the big one in here.
Because not only do you get edges, it lights up double studs, and a whole lot less finicky than those wobbling SOB's.
Yeah I have this one and works very well. Expensive. But it’s literally just 11 sensors instead of 1 or 3 like most have, and each sensor has its own light. So very easy to move it across the wall and find stuff.
As said previously, magenta work well for finding studs but not for missing studs when you want to do that.

Works terrible for all interior framing. But given your user name, you should know this.

I’ve got the Franklin and it’s awesome.

Used the Zircon for years. I was searching for nail spacing in roof trusses during the "My Safe Florida Home" phase. Had to find the nail then identify it as nail or staple. Easy to do ...Roof sheet nailers are off target enough that you can see the missed hits ...

Been on the market for a good one myself. I settled on this one as a Christmas request. I think it will be a winner.

I have one! And if you looked at my garage ceiling, you wouldn't be asking me.
