Yeah, the old flat head B&S engines could last but the newer stuff is pretty junky and doesn't tolerate bad fuel or improper storage.

It is, but on the Honda GCV engines it can also be a weak governor spring that will make it hard to start or it will start then sputter out or the linkage on the carburetor that the thermo wax pellet works upon is sticking. Shot of silicone spray works well.

Yes. Small piece with a pin that activates on heat. Replaced it after it went bad. New one never worked with. Took it out and works fine except for cold starts. A shot of carb cleaner gets it going.
