Anybody installed their own putting green in backyard or had a company do it for them? Just looking for some tips on what to avoid or make sure I do.

Been watching install videos. Approximate size will be 11’x17’ which includes 1’ border of rough.

Starprogreens.com has the kits you can buy.

This always seems like something that is better in theory than in practice.

Well I have a section of grass about 12’x22’ off the side of my patio. My pool is directly off the back of patio. Remaining grass is on other side of pool that doesn’t connect. Figured I would turn that little section into a putting green.

There are some dedicated forums to these that would likely yield better info. Also a pretty sweet FB group called "Backyard Golf Greens" that could give some feedback. Also lets you see some pretty sweet installs.

I think creeping bent is the way to go. Lots of threads on thelawnforum.com

Keep us updated if you choose to do it. I'd be interested to see the process in Baton Rouge.

What kind of grass are you considering?

I will have an area installed during new home construction this year. There’s a Facebook page called backyard golf greens that’s worth a follow.
