Our wet bar has one as well. But it serves as the coffee bar as well. That sink is used daily.

I'd love to remove it but
You could remove faucet/valve and top it with a cutting board.

Of course I'd also remove/cap trap to prevent it from drying out and becoming worst than useless....phew!!!

I don’t have one, but if I had a much larger island I could see having and using one. When I’ve got a number of things going it could be very useful. If she wants one and the island is large enough, I say do it!

OTOH, I wouldn’t want my cooktop or my main sink in the island.

Had one in our first house's island. I honestly couldn't even tell you if it worked past the initial inspection.

I’d be curious the people that have one and never used one how often you cooked? My wife and I both enjoy cooking so having a second sink would be extremely helpful.

One could do dishes for example while the other cooked.

I would have to reconsider the entire kitchen layout though for a 2nd sink, because…why not? Coffee and mini fridge for alcohol, why not by one sink designed for it? Also, I’d think you’d want one sink for clean up that was next to the dishwasher, the other sink for prep next to the stove? Again, if you are going go all out?

Filed for future reference.

Caught me off guard the first time someone started scraping a plate into it. Then flipped the switch I thought controlled some lights above it. They hadn’t been living there all that long but I just assumed the disposal would be connected to the sink with the dishwasher. There may be one there too but having it near the stove is nice.
