I probably should have done this a lot sooner. But, I'm going to invest in a portable work bench since I have projects going on in a few different locations.

Anyone here have a good recommendation?

I'm looking for one with a vise that can hold different sized objects.

I kind of like the looks of the Black and Decker Workmate. Reputable name but, some of the reviews make me wonder if it's worth buying.

Looks like it has 4.3 stars out of 3700 reviews on Amazon. Looks pretty good to me. I want one now.

I don't know why I waited this long to look for one of these. thinking back, i could have used this on so many occasions.

I have two Workmates, but mine are 30-50 years old. I don’t know what the new ones are like. However, based on the design and build materials, I can’t imagine they had much room to cut quality - they weren’t built out of the best materials, yet they still worked great and hold up well.

When you need a Workmate, nothing else will do the job as well or as easy.

Yeah I'm thinking about how many carbs I could have rebuilt on it. Usually do it squatting in the driveway

I have never had a workmate but I really like the keter work benches. Set up is quick and easy height adjustable and includes rail clamps. You can also get other rail accessories for holding work projects. I like the extra work surface.

Welp, ordered the one in the pic on Amazon. Got it Wednesday. It's busted. So, no I have to go through the hassle of returning it.

Was looking forward to trying it out this weekend. And I don't see them available in store anywhere in the BR area.

Seems like any time I order anything with any kind of weight to it, it's busted.

I have 2 similar work benches that are about 40 years old. Very handy. Not the heaviest duty saw horses but plenty good. I have replaced the tops of mine probably 20 times at least so they don't have all the bells and whistles but they are 40 years old and work as good as they ever did. Only complaint I have ever had with them is they will pinch the frick out of your fingers and when you are clamping anything you have to do one crank at a time. Other than that I would definitely buy again.

it sucks that I can't find a Workmate anywhere in stock in the BR area.

I'm reluctant to order another online after the first one arrived broken and looked like it had been through a war zone.
