First picture is a young black medic.

Can’t ID the second weed. Betony has jagged leaves and is now bothering me because I know I’ve seen it before.

I’ll send the photos to Dr. Strahan - seems we all want to know.

Also, is that a good bit of root rot?

Again, yard was fairly neglected and house was on the market for a good while. Lots of trees, lots of leaves.

I sprayed weed free zone then fertilized a couple of weeks ago, but the grass is not thick.

I do not cut low at all. Push mow about 3.5 to 4”

OK guys, this what Dr. Strahan said, he could not iD the first plant in the first indoor photo, said plant needed to be larger for an ID but the second plant is skullcap (Scuttelaria genus). Now bayou, since you’ve added an in-ground photos maybe the first one can be ID’d.

OK, in-ground photos

1. The top photo weed is the skullcap (Scuttelaria genus)

2. The second photo, I’m guessing, but it looks like wild strawberry plant to me. If it produces a white flower and smalll red strawberry you’ll know for sure.

3. Third photo, I still don’t know.

No I don’t think so, you’ve killed some weeds, fertilized only a couple weeks ago, and we haven’t had much rain, probably just needs time to fill in. Ronk might recommend a preventive fungicide and insecticide on the St Augustine, so I’ll be interested to see what he suggest and I might do the same.

Thanks for your help as always.

Wild Strawberry huh? Wasn’t expecting that...

I’m thinking #3 could be a small tree?? From seeds?

Well if you search skullcap weed you probably won't get what you are looking for. I had never heard of that weed until today.

I see where you get wild strawberry. It does have that look to it.

I do think the third photo will be some sort of tree. It really is a boring looking plant.

If you've made it this far I think you are out of the woods for take all patch. That disease will usually appear as the yard is greening up. Green up will start and then a section will brown out and die. I also do not see any leaf spot so that is a good thing but keep your eye out for it as we get into the more humid months. You can never go wrong with applying talstar to St Aug. Keeps the chinch bugs away and will get rid of most other insects.

That's the truth.

wild strawberry.

Can't be. Wild strawberry appears to have three leaves where this one grows by leaves of two like basil.

Don’t know why I have black medic in my head. Try black nightshade.

If it’s still too hard to tell, if you eventually notice a plant like that growing but with pearly green/black seed pods that will give it away.

But I wouldn’t recommend waiting to find out. I think those seeds are toxic to dogs/small children.
