Jogging around the LSU lakes earlier this month I noticed there was a smell in the air that was very bubblegum-esque. Meant to ask about it at the time but i forgot and it crossed my mind just now. Anyone know which blooming plant mightve produced that sent? For reference, it was mainly around the area where Stanford crosses through the neighborhood that leads to Highland.

I don't know the area, but a mock orange plant can smell like bubblegum. Its a larger shrub with a white flower normally

Has to be. My wife's started blooming a few weeks ago but this past week it has been pungent.

The pink “bubblegum” supertunia smells like bubblegum, atleast to me. Had some last year at the house. Wife said I was crazy though.
