Last year I bought mid grade stuff for our pool area. It went to crap right away. Barely making it a year. Obviously need a better stand as well, but that seems easy. Any advice here, I thought the cheaper route was the way to go, but dont see it that way now when I am already buying another. Also, the stand as mentioned falls over in moderate winds even with umbrella down.

we live in the windiest place in La it seems. Any advice to better umbrella and stand set up that will last and function correctly. I have reviewed them online but have gotten where I dont trust half of what I see there.
TIA

Following, as I am looking for a new one myself. Ideally, I need one that's a 10' * 10'

What size are you looking for? Salt/Chlorine pool?

We would just spend $100 and get one of those 8' umbrella stands from BigLots where you fill the base with sand and call it a day. But, now on my 2nd one in 3 years because the umbrella tears through the ribs.

I’ve got a couple of the 8’ sunbrella fabric Home Depot brand (Hampton Bay?) ones. They’re like 6-7 years old, and except for a few scratches to the painted aluminum, they still look great. I want to say I got them for $99 each in the off-season to boot, so I’m thrilled with how well they’ve held up.

Get ones without the internal crank. I have found the simple chain with a metal rod through the pole works much better. That seems to be the thing that breaks most often for me. I have had no problem with the hardier ones from Home Depot. The canvas does well. Has a tendency to fade after a year or so of the cover is not used over the umbrellas. As per the base. I already have some iron ones I use that are permanent (I reuse them) and very heavy.
