Paging Napolean - Frigidaire IceMaker Stuck
Posted on 8/14/24 at 9:10 am

We have a frigedaire side by side fridge and freezer. The arm bar that raises and retracts for the icemaker got stuck about half way, and wont produce ice. I can lift it up to turn it off, but if i force it down feels like i would break it. hoping its an easy fix or reset. Thanks in advance if anyone has a solution.

You need to take it out and defrost it in the sink with water.
There are 2 1/4" screws at the top of the icemaker and sometimes one at the bottom.
Clear it of Ice and make sure nothing is blocking the fingers from moving.
You can force a cycle by taking the cover off the icemaker and turning the screw with the white gear into icemaker starts. You may have to hold down door switch.

I think he is referring to the metal bar that shuts it off when it’s full. I have forced mine down or pull it out of the little holes and put it back in lowered.

I used a jumper between the terminals to get mine cycling/working. Works perfectly ever since.

piggybacking on this thread, hoping fridge experts can chime in.
I have a 4 year old bosch 800 series fridge/freezer that stopped making ice about a year ago. I'm pretty sure it stopped making ice around the same time that I replaced the water filter. I tried resetting with the button, flipping breaker on/off to no avail. The arm moves freely and is in correct position to trigger ice-making. I'm guess water might be frozen in a line somewhere but idk what to try next. Any thoughts baws?

i don't have a bosch but, i have had a problem where the water froze in the tube that puts the water into the ice maker. also froze in that little funnel looking thing that receives the water.

Jumping in as well. I have a Whirlpool French Door fridge with an ice maker that basically works when it wants to. I assume the line is freezing somewhere. The ice maker is in the ceiling of the fridge so its not really assessable.
Assuming the problem is the line freezing. How do you defrost and prevent from reoccurring?

We have a whirlpool as well. Ice maker is in a compartment in the top left corner. Towards the back theres a tube about 1/2 inch diameter. That pours water into a funnel type thing that send the water into the tray area. The tube and funnel tend to freeze up some times. Only way i could thaw it was pull the icemaker out run hot water on the funnel. I guess you could just let it sit out and thaw but, i’m not that patient

That's on Whirlpool icemakers. Frigidaire you turn a screw.

Water frozen in the reservoir behind the crisper drawer common with bosch.

On those units you need to run diagnostics. They're are like 4-5 icemaker test. Look on YouTube as it's hard to 3xplai explain the process. It's you press a combination of buttons then select your test.

Yep, I guess the small rod that’s the on off switch. I messed with it some but no luck. I was able to pull the fingers down slowly, but now they just stay down and don’t cycle.

You don't want to pull the fingers. You turn the screw on the white gear to move the fingers.
You may just need a new icemaker. Like $40-50 on Amazon.
Though I'm assuming standard frigidaire icemaker. They're are other types they make. But the standard one is the one with fingers.
The metal bar cuts power to the icemaker when it's all the way up. So ice doesn't overflow but it also moves up on harvest cycle which is why I said you need to force a harvest cycle by turning the screw.
Just yank the white front cover off and you'll see it.

I take out the ice bin, use a hair dryer to force hot air onto the backside of the ice maker, and it frees up a chunk or two of ice that may be stuck in there. The arm will start moving as soon as the frozen ice releases. I repeat this whenever that happens again.

I ran test on received an error (2) on both zones, which I assume means I need a new ice maker?
I assume you do this professionally. How do I contact you?
