Outdoor TV Mount

We're looking to mount a TV outside on our patio but the wall is vinyl siding. Has anyone had any luck with this type of installation? If so, which mount did you use?

Use a regular mount. Use lag bolts into the studs with washer to span any gaps between the siding and mount.
If you can’t find the studs, heavy duty snap toggles should work because they’ll grab into the plywood. I’d use a small diameter long bit and make a couple holes and find a stud. Measure over 16” to find the next stud or if you have an existing outlet you can figure out where the stud is.

We used a stand like below, then put a sofa table in front of it. Looks like the tv is on the table, but it's not. This allows us to move it around the patio if need be based upon sun, and furniture configuration.

No problems with the vinyl getting smashed? We plan on replacing it with Hardie plank within the next couple of years but for now, its going on vinyl.

That’s what the washers are for…

Once you find studs, pre-drill pilot holes gently and use washers when you bolt on the mount. You can use rubber washer underneath a metal washer as well I guess.

Odds are behind the vinyl has a vapor barrier, then OSB nailed to your studs. The OSB, should be 7/16”.
The TV weight shouldn’t be too bad.
Average weight of a 55” TV is a max of around 45-50 lbs.

There are studs behind that siding.
