Hello,

I am looking for a recommendation for an exterior painter in NOLA. I have a wood exterior house in Mid-city that needs to be scrubbed and painted. Thanks in advance.

How big a house? One or two story, all wood siding, wooden double hung windows needing new glazing, exposed overhang with rafter tails????

Oh, and do you want a quickie "blow and go" or a real paint job with proper prep work, priming where needed, nail setting and filling, caulking cracks, same color or color change.

All that plays into how much it's going to cost.

And not all painters want to tackle big houses with lots of work to be done. Just trying to get a feel for what needs to be done, then I may be able to help him with references.

ETA: I live in Mid-City, so I know about how many of the houses in this area are as far as size and potential condition.

Thanks for the replies. It is a two-story house and there will be some wood siding that will need to be changed out. To be honest, I am a first-time homeowner and learning as I go. I just need an honest contractor who will do a thorough job and give me good feedback on potential repairs.

I had a really good experience with CertaPro on an interior job. Not sure how their exterior jobs are.

If looking for painting contractors, there's Sherwin Williams and Helm Paint & Supply, both on Canal Blvd. right past the RR tracks after making the jog turn off Canal St. heading toward the lake.

The guys behind the counters should have a good take on which of their clients are good painting contractors and may be able to assist you.

The few guys I know are more into smaller houses or interior work as they are getting older and it is getting hotter and hotter by the day.

There are 3 Hispanic guys doing a large 2 story across the street from my house and they are doing a pretty nice job from what I can see. I do all my own work and just painted my large 2 story in spring of 17 and know what goes into a good job plus I painted houses for years when working with a cousin who was a contractor.

If you want, I can get some contact info from the guys across the street and you can decide if it's the way you want to go. I don't know anything about their credentials, whether they are licensed or insured, etc. but a phone call and a chat can sort that all out if you're interested.

Just went and spoke to the 3 guys painting across the street from me. They are Hispanic, live in the Mid-City Neighborhood near St. Patrick Park and do painting and carpentry repair.

The guys name is Francisco and if you want his phone number to contact him, put your e-mail address in a message and I'll forward it to you-----------IF you're OK with that.

I see Dali Painting signs in front of houses they’re doing all over uptown. Im pretty sure they control the area, if i were to paint my house this is who i would call first for a quote.
