New shower head = hotter water?

So last night I swapped out an old shower head for a new one. The old one was 15+ years old, came with the house, and recently had the pressure drop to almost nothing and was leaking out the top. In addition, that shower had always had an issue where it took forever for the water to get warm, and it was never the same temp as the rest of the fixtures in the house. I just chalked it up to being the farthest from the water heater
When I took my first shower after the switch, I noticed the water temp was in line with the rest of the house, and it got hot almost immediately. How could just swapping the head have changed that? I didn't change any of the controls or valves, just a simple change of the head.

Old shower head could have had a slower flow, causing the water to lose heat before it got to you.

Increased flow = hot water faster and with more flow you are transferring more heat to your body. It can be warmer too because with more flow the heat loss from the pipe will not cool it as much.
Hard water plugs my shower head so I take it off and soak it in vinegar for several hours once/year.

If you have a tankless water heater, the self-regulated heating system would be influenced by the shower head. Same with the mixing valve for the shower plumbing.

Our shower head has multiple settings and the water temperature difference is very noticeable when switched to a higher flow setting.
