Is the sun shining into the laser eyes when it won’t close? I had the same problem your having (had to hold button down in garage to shut), but only in the afternoon when the sun was shining into one of the sensors. Worked perfectly fine outside of that time frame.

Ended up just moving the sensors to the ceiling and taped them together

No it was early when it worked and late when it didn’t. I am going to adjust the tension and see if that helps.

In-law did that. I laughed when I finally figured out what the hell it was. Wouldn’t want to get cross-examined about it at a kid-crush trial though.

Same in-law bought another house from an elderly couple who lost the remotes. We looked into programming generics and such but ended up springing for a new system because the existing opener was ancient.

The new opener was several hundred bucks, but damn is it nice. Quiet as can be, battery backup, and the wall-mount opener has a motion sensor to turn on the ceiling light and backlight the opener. Can use phone to open. Got it from Avallone Door and Iron Work in Shreveport. They sell all over the state and are pleasant to work with.

Well frick. It started doing it again this afternoon. Worked this morning when I closed it, but didn't this afternoon when I attempted to close it. Laser lights are still green.

This is a relatively new issue. We owned the home for about a month before we moved in. We never had this issue while we were going in and out during remodel.

Spend the $75 to have a garage door service company come out and service the door. They'll replace rollers and check the spring. Then you can buy a universal remote.

This doesn't sound motor related -- but when that happens, I recommend a wall mount Chamberlain RJO70 Next-GEN WI-FI Garage Door Opener . I installed one about 4 months ago to replace a belt-drive. Freed up my ceiling so I can have a lift in the garage. Much quieter than a belt drive.

The thing is possessed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it will go half way down then reverse course. I am going to have someone take a look.
