I have about 800 sqft of laminate I need demo’d and then new laminate reinstalled. Guy is quoting me $5/sqft for everything material included. Seems reasonable but I have zero experience in this area and the OT has never failed me unlike everyone else in my life.

It really depends on the laminate. You can buy laminate as cheap as .99 per sq ft or as expensive as you want.

Laminate, even the better looking lvt stuff, makes a $100k house look nice and a $500k house look cheap. Buy once cry once and spring for hardwoods

$5/sf seems ridiculous for laminate, even including demo.

Get more quotes and look at other flooring options

Yeah she wants the nice stuff that I’ve priced around $2/sq. But what about the labor portion? $3/sq fair?

The tongue and groove hardwood or the glue down? Does it make a difference in cost?

Go with vinyl plank. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. 100% waterproof and wears better than laminate,
Plus it looks better

How much did you pay for demo, material, install per sq?

If you’re going forward with laminate, I would do it yourself. It is extremely easy to install.. just snap together and lay it on floor

Most of it just snaps together. I installed it in my old house.

I used this and love it. I chose a cypress. It’s ridiculously easy to install, don’t pay someone. Snap together. I’ve done laminate before and it’s easy too but the grooves break easier when installing.

I am a fan of traditional hardwoods that have tongue groove. They are still nailed down. I don’t like the floating hardwoods as much as you cannot refinish them as much and they’ll flex and squeak easy.

Me and a good friend did all the demo of the old wood laminate and installing the vinyl plank. Material was about a grand I think. But he wouldn’t let me pay him since I helped him after the flood
