EGO Stand Alone Tools
ST1300E 33cm Line Trimmer Run Time
2.5 AH 30 min
5.0 AH 60 min
7.5 AH 90 min
10 AH 120 min

i use a 2.5ah and woudl say that's probably correct run time

also looks like coincidently battery weight is very close to AH (2.5AH weighs about 2.5 lbs, 5ah is about 4.9lbs

an ego trimmer w/o battery weighs 7.6lbs

an echo trimmer weighs 11.6lbs dry

so an ego w/ 5ah is approx the same weight as an echo trimmer in use

and both run for about an hour at that weight

Sounds correct if I am running full throttle the whole time. I don't give it full throttle unless I need it. It cuts most normal grass at about half throttle and I get a big bump in run time that way.

I have bigger batteries but it's so light with the 2.5 that it makes a difference with my arthritis. The motor being in the head helps my hands too. Next to no vibration where ya hold it.

The ego chainsaw weighs about the same as my husqvarna but has way less vibration. That kind of stuff didnt matter in my younger years but now that I'm older it's nice to avoid numbness and pain in my hands if I can. I've got 3 cords of wood stockpiled with the ego. Really happy with it.

No more mixed gas, spark plugs, running the fuel out before storage and all that other jazz. It's made life a lot easier but it sure took a long time for the battery tech to finally become viable and reliable.

Wear the battery pack and hook the umbilical to whatever tool you are running.

Yeah, I Googled the back packs and a lot of companies make them.

I'd run gas before I'd strap 20 pounds on my back. Those don't make sense to me at all. A regular size battery is light and easy to swap for a fresh one. I can't think of any viable reason to lug around all that weight.

No different than strapping a 5 gallon gas tank on your back to avoid refueling, it just doesn't make sense.

Apparently ego makes a 20 pound battery back pack that will run a trimmer for 10+ hours. It just doesn't make sense when their regular batteries are relatively light and have long run times. I think they just make them because there are people who will buy them even if they aren't needed.

I got a battery powered one. I really like it but the battery doesn't last long enough. I am sharing a battery with my blower, so I need a second one.

Is there a longer lasting one or can I get a cheap one off Amazon and it work the same?

This and Truefuel and you will be good for 8+ years.

I have an Echo SRM230 that's been in service since 2008, and run hard. Only non-ethanol fuel mixed by me. It could probably use a new piston and ring set, but it still makes plenty of usable power. I edge with a trimmer, too.
