Need a New Refrigerator

Our fridge in the garage is on its last leg, thinking about buying a new one for the kitchen and moving that one to replace the dying one. Any recommendations on a brand that will last for more than 10 years. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have a side by side Whirlpool. The ice maker died 3 times. We got a bullet ice maker that is much better and fill the freezer ice machine with it. Takes about 2 hours. The best part about it is i have an automatic water dispensar than can dispense water in 1/4 cup increments. That by itself has been very useful for cooking/baking/filling my coffee machine.
You will hear a lot of H&G posters say "french door only, no ice maker, Thermador" but I would just stay away from Samsung. Ideally do not buy a refrigerator from a company who specializes better in TVs/phones, basically disposable electronics.

You in front Brusly or back Brusly?
Ok, on the frig, call Stanton’s, set up an appointment with Kathy, she can point you in the right direction. You don’t have to worry about making a bad choice there. They don’t sell LG or Samsung.

Stay away from Samsung.
When I was looking to buy appliances for a new build a few years ago, I did a lot of research. I came to 2 conclusions after months of reading:
1) All companies design the appliances to last 10 years. Their data tells them that 10 years is the mark where most people are ok with the life of the product and will be a returning customer. So they don't want to have a shorter life and cause customers to be unhappy, but they also don't want the appliance to last much longer and lose out on potential sales.
2) Whirlpool has (or at least had at the time of my research) the tightest bell curve around that 10 year mark.
I got this Whirlpool and have been very happy with it. Zero issues since day 1. Having dual ice makers has been great when we have a lot of people over.
And lastly, stay away from Samsung.

I don’t believe good refrigerators exist. LG should be better than five years ago due to compressor upgrades but not good.
Best value is by far in side-by-side as you can get multiple ice makers and tons of features for like $1200 or less. None of that matters though. Your wife will pick for you and it’ll cost triple that. Just make sure it fits.

Fisher & Paykel. Get the model with the ice maker in the freezer section.
I’ll never go back to having an ice maker located on the door, competing with the temperature difference from the refrigerated portion.

Take a look at every discount appliance store. They are full of LG and Samsung. There’s a reason

Whirlpool, Frigidaire, G.E. and Maytag.
Stick with water and ice dispensers on the inside of the unit instead of the door. Refrigerators are just not made anymore to last nor are any appliances as the other poster alluded to. My two spares are at 38 and 25 years old, Kenmore and Amana.

Whirlpool side by side with door ice/water dispenser. Love it. Zero issues. 5 years old.
Same company but Maytags are sweet, too.

and LG
Had an independent appliance repairman out to work on our then Samsung oven under warranty. I asked what they see most commonly at their shop since they service all brands?
He said if Samsung and LG ever got their act together and made even decent kitchen appliances that it would put their repair shop out of business. He recommended any of the Whirlpool-family brands as the best bet.
