So the deck on my Snapper has bit the dust after only 10 years. I'm pretty disappointed it didn't last longer. My frustration with the deck has led me to the Honda HRX mower with a "plastic" deck. Does anyone have experience with this mower? How does it hold up?

I have it. Deck should outlast the Honda engine. Which means the thing will last a lifetime

Honda warranty on the deck is for life. They are expensive even compared to the Toro, which I think offers a similar cut.

However the blade stop sure is nice. I have had an HRX for about 4 years

Go ELECTRIC!

It was one of the top 15 decisions I’ve ever made.

I bought one about seven years ago because the deck on my previous two mowers degraded far more quickly than the motor did. I still use the HRX today and the deck is in perfect condition. Overall, I like the HRX but there are a few thing to note. The mower is heavy. If you have to get the mower in tight spaces, it can be difficult to maneuver and control. I can handle it, my wife can't. Also, the quality of the control handles and cables is no better than anything else. The handles are rusted, the throttle cable pops off of the carb arm, etc. Not a deal breaker after seven years but I expected more from a near-$1,000 mower. Lastly, the lever to control bagging/mulching will get stuck constantly due to grass accumulation in the lever path if the underside of the deck isn't rinsed or brushed clean after each use. Overall, I would probably buy the HRX again but it is a few tweaks short of perfect. I hope that helps.

Yes. Had a toro rust bucket before my HRX. The Honda is the better of the two after 4 years of usage.

Nope. My neighbor has an electric mower and his yard looks like shite compared to mine with a rusted out Snapper.

And you think that has something to do with the lawnmower...

Listen baw, I don't know what that dude is doing but it takes him twice as long to mow his lawn and it still looks like shite. He keeps telling me that he is an engineer so he must be a genius, but my lawn looks better and it's done in half the time.

Now, anyone remember the Hover Mower? I'd by one of those before I went electric.

i researched the crap out of push mowers for a month or so and pulled the trigger on the Honda HRX. Have had it for 4 months and absolutely love it.

I got the cast aluminum deck on my Toro so I wouldn't have to worry about rust. Still going strong, & I think it's going on close to 15yrs old.

I used to use that thing when I worked on the golf course in high school to mow around the sand bunkers. The superintendent used that thing as punishment and put me on that thing more than I'd like to admit.

It's a rough life when you are a natural smart arse.

Yes, I had the model just under it and had a lot of trouble with it. After continued calls to Honda headquarters, they agreed to upgrade me to the HRX for a $100. Very good mower and it has a five year warranty.
