Not flooded.

You are not getting fire, fuel, or air.

Unscrew the gas cap. Inside of it is a little rubber valve. Wiggle it around some and then screw it back on and try again.

Check the primer bulb you were pushing in and out to see if has as crack that is letting in air when you depress it, If cracked, it won’t pull gas into the carb, and thus won’t start. I’ve had to replace 3 cracked primer bulbs - trimmer, blower, and hedge trimmer - in the past year.

This. My old craftsman 4-stroke I use for edging has/had this issue. It had been running like shite for a while and was tough to start. Could get it going with some pulls and starter fluid and feathered throttle.

Damn thing is 12 years old and still going. Just realized I’ve never changed the oil either

OK, then remove the spark plug, hold the trimmer somewhat vertically with the spark plug hole facing the ground, pull the starter cord several times to remove any residual fuel from the combustion chamber if in indeed it’s severely flooded, return and tighten the spark plug, and depress the primer bulb no more times than recommended in the owners manual and try starting it again. And if by chance your fuel mixture is “old”, 6+ months, mix a new batch or try the pre-mixed fuel that stores now sell.

Had same issue after changing primer bulb. Pulled plug, grounded and it fired... Checked that off the list. Gas was fresh... Check that off the list. Wouldn't even start with starting fluid. About an hour ago I pulled on it and it started with white smoke everywhere. Let it run for 15 minutes with no problem. Killed it and started it again. Weird.

Always use non-ethanol gas with seafoam.

mine was/is echo also. 6 years old and never failed to start until recently. I was actually contemplating cordless but i'll stick with the gas until it totally dies.

Get a battery powered one. The Black and Decker 36v/40v is cheap and super reliable/easy to use. If you want the best, get the EGO 56v. The Snapper 82v is good if you plan to use attachments or use the battery platform for a push mower.

set it on choke, pull it 8 to 10 times. It's longer flooded. You can also pull the spark plug and wipe it off and know it's not flooded. You can also take off the sp, reconnect the boot to the sp, touch the bottom to the muffler and watch for sparks when you pull the rope. Make sure gas cap is all the way on and you aren't touching anywhere near the sp bc it will light you up .

The problem is probably the carb setting. always get an adjustment tool with whatever 2 stroke motor you get. those set screw vibrate a lot and can get off just a little and make it hard to start. took me a long time to learn that. If you arent willing to do this, you definitely need to get a cordless (they're well worth it).
