I fired it up for the first time last week. It wouldn't start up at first. Re-attached it to brand new propane tank and it finally caught fire. But after 30 seconds, it turned off. That happened again and then we stop using it and went to a different burner. Any clues to why this is happening? Is there a secret to using these things?

debris in your line. disconnect the regulator at the nut where it connects to the hard line. bang on it with a hammer. watch all the debris fall out. reconnect.

I think it has auto shutoff if you crank too high too fast.

many times, these new burners choke up if you release too much propane into the regulator at once...I think you need to slowly open up the regulator after it is lit...and turning it on full blast may trip the auto shut off too...so you need to find the sweet spot...trial and error
