- I have a bunch of dollarweed I need to eradicate. Any issues with applying on centipede? I've read some reviews that have said its fine but does anyone have first-hand experience?

- The mix ratio calls for 0.025-0.050 grams per gallon. Any DYI suggestions on how I can actually measure that small amount, or am I going to have to purchase a micro-scale of some sort?

I mixed 1 gram/gallon for St. Augustine.

Used a food scale and beer bottle cap. 2 grams (was mixing 2 gallons at a time) was a cap full.

Yes fine for centupede. Digital kitchen scale if you want to be accurate.

With that said 1/8th tsp in 1-2 gallons with some surfactant is sufficient for spot spraying.

It’s an excellent herbicide to control dollarweed (first hand experience). Be sure to use a spreader/sticker (surfactant) in the solution - needed to help the herbicide to penetrate dollarweed’s waxy leaf. Re-spray in 4 or so weeks if you feel it’s warranted. Of course safe for centipede.

Use 1/8 teaspoon per 1 or 2 gallons of water sprayed over 1000 sq ft of lawn. When spot spraying I usually add it to 1 gallon.

Alternatively, weigh out 0.5 gram mixed in 1 or 2 gallons of water (re-check your calculation of 0.05 g - I think you are off a factor of 10). You can buy a jeweler’s/kitchen scale for low weights on Amazon for a about $15 or so. It’s what I use when I want to weight dry herbicides.

Thanks. I did and you're correct. Its 0.025-0.050 oz, not grams. I do have a kitchen scale but I didn't think it would be sensitive enough, but it with a 10x higher quantity it should be.

Is a surfactant necessary to mix with it if it doesn't rain after applied? Also, can you recommend a surfactant? Isn't 2,4-D one? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. This is also helpful. My original quantity was wrong. It was oz. not grams.

Its not "necessary", but I wouldn't spray without it.

You can use dawn in a pinch or just search for non ionic surfactant.

You can buy this at most retail garden centers, hardware stores, but not the big box stores. It’s cheap. You can use Dawn dish detergent in a pinch but better to use a non-foaming non-ionic surfactant developed specifically for use with herbicides.

Surfactant is extremely important to allow herbicide penetration into plants, particularly those with waxy leaves. It tells you to use surfactant on the MSM Turf label. Dollarweed has very waxy leaves - it is why the leaves shine so nicely. Much of of herbicide/water solution will roll right off the leaves if surfactant is not added.

Yup a jug of non ionic surfactant is cheap and will last a while

Some people use mso surfactant which has the same purpose if helping the herbicide stick to and Penetrate waxy weeds

I always use a surfactant unless Temps are scorching (above 95). Although you need to read the label, as some will say not to add a surfactant when temps above 90.

I just fill the very bottom of the measuring cup with two layers of granules. I don’t want to take the time to measure things out to the tenth of a gram

Small update and plug for a company:

I ordered the MSM and Hi-Yield. Hi-Yield arrives today (Home Depot and Lowes were out of it). I ordered the MSM from a company called Solutions Pest and Lawn. Their pricing is about 50% less than DoYourOwn.com across multiple products that I checked. Also, Solutions Pest and Lawn sent me a measuring "test tube" with the MSM at no cost. It is a small plastic test tube that has a funnel formed on the top of the tube.
