moving light fixture to center over new a vanity

installed a larger vanity than the previous one, so now the light is slightly off center. less than 2" to the right. My concern is that if I move the junction box to center, half of it would still be in the old hole. Didn't know how secure I would be able to make it in this situation. Wasn't sure the best option here. Thoughts?

Instead of moving the box, you could install a decorative board that centers on the vanity and then attach the light directly to the central board. I did this at my home, used some good paint-grade wood, and used a router to cut the edges to a pattern that fit the decor.

This is what I would do.
Do nothing for a month. IMO.... after that time, I don't think will notice a 2" off center.
