Looking for recommendations for national moving companies. Relocating for work in the coming weeks and will need to hire someone to move us several hours away.

Go with the big name movers.
I made the mistake of picking a low cost option when i moved cross country a couple years ago. DO NOT DO THIS.
Any deposit you make will not go to the actual people doing the moving. There is a reason they only accept a bank transfer or cashier's check for the deposit. It is fraud. The people that show up to do the move will hit you up for another 5-15 grand before they start loading your stuff.
This is what happened to me, and it is a common story.
I made the mistake of letting my wife organize our move and it ended up costing us big. I should have just made multiple trips renting a u-haul. Would have saved us about $15 grand.
My father in law moved with us, but paid one of those "We will store your stuff for free for a few months while you move" movers. He never saw most of his stuff again. What did get delivered was some of his stuff (damaged), and other people's belongings.
DO NOT hire a mover that moves your stuff together with other peoples belongings.
Even if you get a legit mover, these types of moves are so expensive.
My advice is sell everything you can (furniture, anything bulky) and move only those things that are dear to you. Rent a u-haul and move what you really want to move yourself. Buy new at your new place. It will typically end up being cheaper.

When I moved from Chicago to Denver, I avoided the big national brokers entirely because I wasn't about to deal with my stuff getting held hostage for a bigger check.
I ended up just grabbing a truck from Elite Truck Rental and doing the drive myself. Honestly, hauling it across the plains was less stressful than dealing with a middleman who subcontracts the job to the lowest bidder. Rented the truck, loaded it up, and drove. Done.

Surprised your company doesn't have a relo program that includes movers they approve of. The last company that relo'd me paid the movers directly, in addition to incentives on the sale of my house, etc.

If you don’t have a 45 foot trailer load …….good luck with the idea of being only family on board.
Stupid was using a third rate mover.
Your advice sucks. You did everything wrong. No one else's fault but yours.
Check the local area. Mayflower, North American, Allied should be your choices. Get bids from each. Unless the mover loads and delivers….you will be at the mercy of a driver you’ve never seen before and the loaders will be local “rent a drunk” types.
Yeah, I drove for three years. Never “mixed” loads up. Cross Country.
The people I hauled, knew me, when to expect me and what to expect pickup and delivery.
Cut rate haulers are exactly that “cut rate”
Know exactly who will load and haul the load before allowing them to touch a thing. Appears you let them load, unload at the warehouse then load again. When it was delivered, you never touched an inventory list, nor checked everything off, item by item. I always took a picnic table, umbrella and chairs….had one sitting and checking off, the other pointing to rooms. then assemble after unloading.
You invited trouble…start to finish It was an absolute joke.
I went back to school.
Yours was an “Uncommon story.”
Last move was a Corporate move, Tampa to St Louis. I knew the driver, had his phone number. My wife was going to handle unloading….I changed my mind, arrived at the house an hour later, sent her somewhere warm, for coffee. I took over and had them trying to figure out what they had done to piss me off.
We had to arrange a shuttle because the entrance to the property couldn’t handle 55 feet of truck.
Move went smoothly afterwards. A experienced corporate bed bug driver much more efficient than a former dry goods hauler.
Be more careful next time. Plan ahead.
