Mini-Split ducted central A/C - anyone done it?

Upstairs A/C went out and looking into a replacement. I can go with the trusty traditional central A/C system that should last 20 years like the current one. Or I can do the mini-split DC inverter ducted system: high effiecieny and qualifies for the green 30% tax credit. Cost installed are about the same.
Only hesitancy is i'm skeptical these mini-splits will last 20 years.. I have a ductless one on my garage apartment for past 4 years and it's been great. Anyone ever done the ducted central systems? opionions?

Also there is the advantage that these mini-split DC inverter systems soft start and can run on my generator. The mini-split 2 ton on my garage doesn't phase my generator.

My neighbor has an AC company in Metairie and suggested an inverter unit like this. Not a mini split. He just installed a 5 ton Daikan model recently for someone and says it's awesome. I will need a new one at some point and am waiting for more info. I have a variable speed Carrier now and it would be difficult to go back to a regular unit.

The single ducted mini-split I have on my garage is really impressive how well it works and it's extremely energy efficient.
How big of a difference does the dual speed central air system make?

Today, I seriously doubt a conventional single stage system will last 20 years.
Average life in the Deep South 13-15 years. Ducted mini-splits have been around a while, becoming more widely used, more companies installing them, but they are more complex than conventional split system - more things to go wrong, and universal spare parts aren’t going to carried on the truck and maybe not the supply house. Fewer experienced techs to work on them, but I’m sure that will change for the better in time. Pros & Cons to each system.
From the professional HVAC talk forums I peruse, techs favor the Japanese Mitsubishi and Fujitsu mini-splits for reliability & longevity. Daikan might be a consideration.

Update:
I took the plunge and bought the Senville 3 Ton ducted central air system. I stuck with this brand because I have one of their mini-splits and their tech support and warranty is top notch. $2,773 for the whole system delivered! Paid a local contractor another $1,000 for installation . I'll get a 30% tax credit for the system on top of that!
System went in just like a normal system and came with a new line set that the contractor installed as well. Everything went smooth until it came to the thermostat wiring and dip switch configuration: these things have a ton of settings and wiring diagrams that you have to figure out for your specific thermostat. You can run any thermostat, but found the easiest way was to install the communication thermostat that was included , which only required two wires . Got some error codes and couldn't get it to run and it took about an hour of studying the manual to figure out the correct settings then it started run and was good to go! My advice: use the included thermostat or study the wiring diagrams to run thermostat wires to the outside unit to accomodate a non comm thermostat before you install!
Performance: This thing is awesome! It's putting out 50F air currently while it's 100F outside!!! It ramps up and puts out ice cold air on high fan settings then once it get's to the set air temp it ramps down to low compressor/fan settings and slowly & steadily runs to put out cold air (i'm seeing 65 - 68F on this setting to maintain the temp) . Excited to see how much electricity I save with this unit! For $2700 installed (after tax credit) it's hard to beat the value of this unit! 10 year warranty so it I only get a decade, I more than got my value from this sytem replacing my old 17 year old split system.
Another tip: You need a whole house surge protector to protect these units. I ordered one off amazon for $120 and they're a 15min install.
