Mini rose bush care

Front display of our neighborhood was being neglected so I somewhat volunteered for the unfortunate task of taking over the landscaping. There are 6 mini rose bushes that look like crap. Very few blooms. No real shape. What’s the best way to tackle them? Trim them back a bunch?

I’m no rose expert though I have some knockout roses at the house. Do you think they are Drift roses? All roses need full sunlight - 8 hours + to shine - are they getting full sun? . Fertilization in spring. Minimal pruning of drift roses required although if they look bad perhaps a rejuvenation pruning in the late winter - mid Feb might be beneficial. Always helps to have the soil analyzed to see if they are any deficiencies in the landscape bed that needs to be addressed. If they are drift roses here are a couple articles on managing them

I cut mine back 2 times a year. I remove any dead canes, any canes that grow toward the center of the plant, and then take most of the rest back to between 2-3 ft. from the ground.
It will look like crap and nothing more than branches, but will start to send out new growth, and once it does that, it progresses pretty quickly. Then as the weather cools you should be getting nice full blooms.
Wouldn't hurt to put in some Miracle Grow or other plant food to help it along.
I just cut mine back the middle of August and already have a couple blooms with many more on the way.
I also do the same around February to get going for the spring.

Check pH and add miracle grow, you should be good to go.

My drift roses are looking like crap right now. I have fertilized, increased water, sprayed w/ pesticide and herbicide but they are barren scraggly looking things right now.
