Anyone have the U model? Is it as quiet as advertised?

I have I think the 10000 BTU model and love it. Had it several years now in my master bedroom. It is extremely quiet. You can hear air flow, although still not loud. I sleep with a box fan anyway, so I don't notice any sound at all from the Midea. I don't hear the motor or anything else. The inverter technology is very quiet to begin with, but the U shape allows the window to close enough to shut out the noisy part of the unit.

The install takes a while, but it's very sturdy and well insulated once in place. Although I did find out after I installed it that I had Covid, so that's probably why it wore me out

Has a remote and a pretty good app too.

If I have any gripes at all, it's that cleaning the fan blades is a real bitch if they ever get that dirty. But hopefully that's just a once every few years chore.

ETA: They dominate in consumer reports too.

I have one. Had to replace the first one after only 2 years. Bought hr this second one from Costco so that a return may be a little easier if this one only lasts 2 years again.

I have 2 of them. They are much much more quiet than traditional window units. The variable speed is fantastic. The only thing that annoys me is there is a slight dripping sound where the condensation hits the fan that is noticeable when it is running at low speed. I usually only notice at night when it's very quiet, but it's a small price to pay for how good these are.

We have the 8000? in our bedroom as hurricane insurance. Plenty of Youtube vids on the Midea U ACs. They liken them to a Mini-Split system.

Bought our 8000 last spring from Home Depot and then another for the camp. I saw 8000s and 12000s at Laplace HD last week.

Our unit had a removable rubber plug in the frame pan to allow water to drip out and help minimize mold buildup. We also added a thin foam sheet as a prefilter to our units (You Tube Midea upgrade vid).
