Going to build a metal building/home in the spring and wanting to get a jumpstart on some things. Any recs on a manufacturer? Dos and donts? Probably 80x60 with 1000-1200 of that being living. TIA

Just a FYI my realtor said the metal building homes are really hard to keep cool in the summer. So if you are going to do it I guess make sure you look into the best possible way of insulating a metal home. I don't know this from first hand experience just passing along what a realtor said.

Talk to the bank or mortgage company before you do much. I've heard from various people that it can be difficult to get a mortgage on a residential metal dwelling.

This is the only reason I bring it up.

If you want to take a ride and see one just being finished up cross Bridge from St Francisville. Take levee road south past Smaller Cajun electric plant and turn on Hwy 414 ( Chenal Road). Not first Hwy 414 ( Ventress road). Go down Chenal road several miles. When you cross railroad tracks start looking on left. Looks like they are just finishing up building a metal building house.

Definitely going to need spray foam insulation.

A coworker is having one built right now. He's not putting any formal closets in it so he can call it his office and not a living quarters. He's doing that for deed restriction purposes, not tax but in some places you can get away with it not being taxed as a house. From google earth it just looks like a shop or barn.

My house is metal. Was an RV port that was enclosed then a 1500 sq for house was erected. It’s spray foamed in the attic, walls, and under the floor joist as it’s about 4 feet off the ground. I do t have any issue keeping if heated or cool however phone service is shot lol. Make sure to run cat 5 and repeaters to have good service inside. Any wireless items (cameras/doorbell) don’t work all that good lol.
