Made in America locking pliers

These started shipping recently.
Malco Eagle Grip, made in the old plant that made Vise-grip before Irwin shuttered the plant and sent production to China.
About $50 for this model, but serious quality for the expense. Jaw fit and alignment is perfect and hard tool-steel brazed jaws.

I'll pick some up some time. I have Knipex Cobras and pliers wrenches that handle most of what I need. Good hand tools are a pleasure to use.

We need a lot more of this - quality, made in the USA tools.

I might pick up the 10 inch curved jaw with wire cutter model. My small Vice Grips are still fine, but my larger pair has seen some wear.

Buy them from Harry Epstein's, I think they have a discount going. Plus they are a family owned company out of Kansas.
I'm going to pick up some of the bigger welding clamps later this month now that they are out.

I plan on picking up one or two per month until I've replaced all of my current sets with versions from Malco. I had recently gotten a few from Milwaukee as those seemed somewhat decent if I was regulated to import options only.

Dewitt, Nebraska?
I'll have to get some. Think my dad still has some vice grips with the dewitt stamp.

Apparently Malco put in effort to hire as many of the original employees as they could. They didn't simply start making re-branded Vise-grips either, they took in input to improve every part.

Those are nice and use the Vice Grip unlocking action which I prefer. I still have lots of old Vice Grips in good shape and have some Knipex but prefer the VG style unlocking action.
I have to admit my favorite design of all locking pliers are the Milwaukee Torque Locks though they are made in Taiwan. When they were first released (maybe 4 years ago) Milwaukee's press said when doing field research they found welders that would weld loops on the adjustment screw and then would use a screwdriver stuck through it to crank down the tension, intrigued I bought a set* and man it is a perfect idea. They can be tightened or untightened easily when clamped. Eagle has the hex head adjustment screw which has a similar function but not as convenient nor likely as robust in long term use.
* I have a strict rule about not buying Chinese tools, I only own 3. I didn't count Taiwanese (then but I do now) though they were certainly Chinese adjacent.

Thats awesome.
We always used to drice through de witt going between my moms and dads families. Both lived within 30 minutes.
Dad always talked about vice grips and the factory.
He definitely has some really old originals, I'll have to make sure I find them and keep them, just for the sentimental value.

Keep them and put them to use, good tools should be used no matter their age.

Eagle has a 5/16" hex head spot, see it compared to the 4mm of the Chinese Vise-grips. The Eagle's seem to have a larger screw though and the extra seamless collar reinforcing that area compared to the Milwaukee, seems like they intend for that to be as robust as any other. The Eagle Grips are also slightly heavier than the Milwaukee grips even though they look a little smaller overall. Definitely slightly thicker metal in the body and in the link bar.
