I am wanting to add some landscaping lights to our new home. I want to do the following..

Light up 3 small palm trees in the front yard along with 3 lights shining up on our house

Light up 3 palm trees in the back yard and 1 light on each side of my pool cage shinning up on some tropical plants.

Total lights would be around 12 or so but would like a strong enough transformer to add lights later if needed.

I think this is a project that I can handle and I know where to mount the transformer and run the wire.

Has anyone added any of these lights and can recommend a compay or brand name to buy the equipment from? I see these kits but have not had landscaping lights before so I want to get good equipment but not need to sell my boat to pay for it

Thanks

Go with the higher priced LEDS....and don't look back!
I have had both, and there is no comparison.
I have LEDS that have going strong for 7 years now, only replaced 1 out of 20.

I have used the Home Depot/Lowes brand LEDS....work fine.

You will get a lot of recommendations for Volt. They are excellent, well made, and lifetime warranty. Sold at costco in sets as well.

Thank you guys. I am going to check them out. Looks like Amazon has them as well. I am not sure a "kit" is the way to go for me. I think I will just buy what I need in pieces

Thanks again..

Anyone here install themselves? Want to do this myself, but unsure if I would light up my home and landscape "properly". I have a two story home (subtle brag) & wonder how in the hell you illuminate the second floor properly.

Volt. Buy a basic kit from costco and expand as needed.

If you don't want to get a kit I am using these items with great success.

Amazon Transformer Link

LeonLite Link

Of course you'll want to add up the wattage of the light fixtures you'll be using in totality and adjust up or down the wattage of the transformer you purchase.

Many of the fixtures you'll see on the LeonLite link can be found at Amazon as well.

You'll also need wiring and connectors.

Adjust for distance needed.

I also put dielectric grease in all the connectors and taped them up firmly with electrical tape.

I diy'd 6 pathway lights and 4 upright lights a while back. Used a Sunvie kit off amazon.

Size your transformer based of number of lights (google is your friend) have two lights highlighting my two story columns at the front of my house. Getting them to light up the whole two story elevation was simple enough.

Pro tip: run all the wiring on top of the ground, lay out your lights the way you want them, then turn them on for a night or two. Make any adjustments that you need to, THEN bury the wire.

I ended up digging up some of my up lights a couple days after initial install to move them a little bit.
