For those of you with gas blowers, is mixing and storing fuel the hassle I imagine it to be?
nothing to it...get yourself a one-gallon gas can and some of the oil in little containers pre-measured for one gallon of gasoline. pour in the oil and fill with gasoline.
if you'd rather not mix at all, buy tru fuel...it is a little expensive, but it requires no mixing and lasts 2 years after opening.

Ryobi. I have Ryobi everything and they’re all awesome.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.
I tempered my angst about mixing fuel, and bought the gas-powered Stihl BG50. It is very light, and extremely powerful. $139.95. It takes a little more effort to get it cranked than I’d expected. I guess I’ll find out in the coming months if that is my lack of familiarity with starting the machine or the machine, itself.
I also bought a quart of Trufuel 50:1 to start out.

Stihl - you won't regret it
Best machines on the market, IMO. I've got a blower, chainsaw and weed-eater. Each is about 5 years old, no issues.

Damn, I got here too late. The Stihl BG86 is worth the extra money. Best handheld blower I've ever used.
I also have a Stihl backpack blower. It works even better, but more expensive. Stihl makes some of the best outdoor products available in the world.

Each engine has its own quirky way of starting
For my BG55:
Prime until bulb is hard, then twice more
Hold throttle halfway, and crank on full choke until it sorta starts
Start it on no choke
Mine is from '93, has been underwater for two hurricanes, and worked professionally for a total of a year and a half. All I've done is clean the mud/water out of it, and change the primer bulb a few times

Another for the Dewalt 20V blower. I highly recommend it. It’s perfect for blowing off concrete surfaces and will even push leaves across grass, just not as effectively as a gas powered blower. My porches/patio stay a lot cleaner since getting it bc of how quick and simple it is use. My wife even uses it from time to time. It’s also great to have when burning stuff as well.
If you need to blow leaves across the yard, I’d recommend a Stihl. I have a Stihl backpack blower I bought at a pawnshop several years ago that cranks right up every time, no matter how long it’s sets up.

As much as I love the Stihl, my old Toro is more powerful. I’ve had that thing since before Katrina. The only reason I got another one is because my wife backed over it in the driveway when I was doing the yard last year. Sucker still works, though. Just missing the knob and has a hairline fracture that runs the length of the frame.

I have an EGO blower, hedge trimmer and weed whip. Absolute beasts, all. Trimmer is kind of heavy though.

I'm set on getting a Stihl. Can I get opinions of the BG 56 vs the BG 86?

Just get the 56. Pump the primer three or four times and pull the cord. It’ll start by the third time.
Get a separate gas can and label it for your 2 cycle engines. Mixing fuel is easy. Ya don’t have to buy the premixed stuff.
