While I get your point, D.R. Horton does not care what he plants on his land. They built the neighborhood, sold the houses and moved on. Invasive plants are the new homeowners’ problem.

bamboo can be an option just make sure you choose a clumping type and not a running type

I like fences - you don't have to trim then every quarter
