My heeler won't come inside. She hates it. A couple years ago when it got down to 20 degrees and snowed my wife kept trying to bring her in and the dog would go jump in the pond every time right before coming in.

Seems you jumped the gun and got a bit off topic here.

No, I was replying to

LMFAO at the people that think dogs need protection from the cold in South Louisiana. Strange that dogs get by just fine outside on their own from Siberia to Alaska but can not manage to brave the fierce Baton Rouge winters. You asked

I think I correctly pointed out that survival isn't the only thing we can worry about here. Just because the dog survives an LA winter doesn't mean it was comfortable while doing it. Not every dog is bred to tolerate cold weather like a husky and just like people they need to be acclimatized to their surroundings or it is much harder on them.

Just trying to encourage a little critical thinking here instead of just saying everyone that worries about their dog freezing must be some kinda sissy.

My dog stays inside on her bed all day. She is an 8 year old Boxer. Very chill.

I just bought this off Amazon for $35.00 for my outdoor cat. K&H Pet Products Extreme Weather Kitty Pad Petite Tan 9" x 12" 25W

I'm sure they have a large size one for a dog. I put it under her outdoor bed and it doesn't get hot enough to burn anything but keeps her warm at night.

Also I have a regular heat light that I used in the past for the cats. It is just occupied at the moment with some young chickens. But the cats loved to snuggle up to the heat light. I've had it running 5 weeks straight now with no issues.
