If so what is best to kill it?

Roundup will kill it. Whatever that is in the picture

it's probably dallisgrass or something closely related.
If that is a centipede lawn, sethoxydim will kill it real good

Don’t look like st aug to me

It's not St. Aug.
My lawn is St. Aug, but I have a low area with that exact weed. I don't know what it is, but it's resilient.

By chance, has it ever sent up a seedhead that looks like a hippie giving you the peace symbol sign?

If so, might be bahiagrass. If bahiagrass, it can be controlled with metsulfuron methyl (MSM Turf) which can be used in St Aug, Centipede, Bermuda.
However, I’d recommend you send this photo to Dr Ron Strahan, LSU AgCenter, rstrahan@agcenter.lsu.edu to see if he can ID from the photo and if so ask for control measures. Be sure to tell him what type of lawn grass you have.
