The quote is as follows:
1. Remove one broken clay ridge tile
2. Install one recycled clay ridge tile in same area nailing securly to roof
3. Haul all trash and excess material
Quoted cost is $975.
House is two stories tall.
TIA!

Dude, is this a joke???? If not, go to a salvage yard, buy a couple clay ridge tiles and get up on your roof by ladder and take the broken one off, nail down the replacement and climb back down.
Once you have the ridge tile, the whole job shouldn't take more and 30 minutes of your time, and that includes putting up and taking down the ladder to store it.
If serious, that price is WAY out of line for that little work------unless your entire roof is covered in those clay tiles and the roofer is thinking possible damage to other tiles going up and coming back down and needing to replace them too.

That’s not outrageous, that’s the I don’t want this job, but if the goober will pay, I’ll do it quote.
As others have said get the tile and do it yourself, or get the tile and then at a handyman off Nextdoor or wherever you like to do it for you.

I wouldn't pay $975 but there's no way I'm climbing to the peak of a second-story roof to save some money either.

You don't know the OP's physical ability. I'm past retirement age myself.
