We have a 7 year old lab mix. She's gotten out only once in 5 years. Rabbits, deer, other dogs can be on the other side and she'll run up to the line but will not go over.

Everyone that i know that has\had the inviso fence without an actual fence the dogs sooner or later get the Leroy Jenkins attitude and run right through it. One yelp is all you will hear.
This.^^^
We tried one with a Great Dane 10-12 years ago.
He figured out pretty quickly where the fence was, and would get a running start so it just popped him a little when he sprinted through it. Might work on smaller dogs, or ones that aren't stubborn and headstrong (a Dane trait).
He was a very good and very smart dog. He was trained well enough that we could take him out in the neighborhood off-leash and he never bolted. He just figured if he was outside without supervision it was a free for all.
Still miss him after 5+ years now. Best dog I have ever been around.

We have an electric fence. I just KNEW it wasn’t going to work. Listened to the salesman’s stats and went with it.
It works. Unbelievably well.
We have a smart dog and a not so smart dog. Smart dog knows the boundaries. Will work them…the collar beeps before it shocks. He will tolerate the beep sometimes- will never go into the shock zone. Not so smart dog got buzzed once and will not go near the area. Period.
Both refuse to chase deer/dog/rabbit/etc past the line.
The deer screw with them every day
