I am in Katy as well. Removing the current insulation (25 years old)in my attic this fall, sealing all of the gaps with spray insulation,installing blown insulation to R-38 and installing radiant barrier.

Are they blowing in insulation over your AC ductwork and can lights?
My ductwork was changed 15 (?)years ago and they put this octopus looking stuff in …. most is hanging from roof and just above the insulation etc.. .. it is older but not original .. my house was built in 1976…. The ductwork in general will be hanging just above the added insulation… I do not have can lights upstairs in the bedrooms but I know they checked about that to make sure because a safety issue ?
