Ideas to make these pool loungers functional.

Help me brainstorm ideas. I came across these pool chaise loungers for free. They are designed to be filled with pool water, and rest on a tanning ledge shallow water. These are not the expensive brand name loungers, therefore, I believe it is why the previous owner glued tight the plugs. There are 2 each per chair, one plug for the back rest, one for the leg rest. I put them in my pool and submerged and appears to be air tight (no bubbles). I’m looking for cheap effective way to drill holes, plug to hold water in, and be removable if possible to drain, refresh the water, store in winter, etc. looking forward to ideas. Thanks.

Just drill a hole at the high point of each half. Dont over think it. Drill a common size like 3/8 and you should be able to get a white automotive christmas tree plug to push into the hole. Use 3/8 vinyl tubing to fill.

I would just drill it next to the existing hole that is glued in.

It looks like that plug might be a screw in style. Try that. I don't see why the prior owner would have glued it.

I tried to unscrew and no luck. Was not budging and damaging the plastic. I think its a cheap plug and likely leaked so it was glued? but its 100% glued. I like the idea of drilling out that existing plug and using same hole and plugging it. I'd rather it be something threaded, but I guess a rubber/silicone stopper will hold the water in

Yup. Maybe drill out a 1 inch hole and cut off the top of a water bottle, shove the cut end in and silicone it in place. You can remove the cap to fill/drain as needed. Easy to replace periodically if necessary.
Yes, I'm a redneck DIYer.

Is the seat portion fully underwater? If so, start by drilling a hole and seeing if that’s enough weight to keep it anchored. No need for a plug in that case. Will self drain whenever you remove from the pool.
