Depends on what options. Single speed outdoor? Variable speed indoor? Whole house air filter at handler? These are the option sI would recommend. The variable speed blower is the tits with a 7 minute dehumidification cycle at call for cooling which runs the air at 80% and the coil at 100% and then ramps the air up to 100% if setpoint is not reached after 7 minutes. We get 48% humidity indoors in the heat of summer in BR, LA.

Trane doesn’t make a 14 seer variable speed

Can you name the businesses?

I quoted in the same area but higher SEER last year.

I have anothe unit that will blow any day now so it'd be nice to have more companies on my list.

You can use a single speed outdoor unit with a variable speed indoor blower.

Which is exactly what I suggested and have in my home.

Until the fan motor breaks and the part costs over $600.00. Ask me how I know.

8 years so far on mine and all good.

Indoor coil failed at 7 years though and replaced under warranty for $1500 labor/charge.

The blower motor is one of many components that can fail.

Wow. Learn something everyday. I didn’t know that was possible. I have a Trane variable speed. Very comfortable

Cool man yeah you get some of the benefits of variable speed indoor blower without the expense and hassle of the two stage outside unit (which haven't always been a big hit for Trane).

-soft start and multiple ramp up curves available.
-Dehumidification mode on startup.
-slow speed startup and shutdown to get the coils at temperature before the blower really starts moving air.
