HVAC baws....question about heater

Gents - I have a gas furnace at the house. Couple weeks ago I went up to the attic to do some basic service to get ready for the winter season. Replaced filters, removed the igniter and cleaned it then reinstalled. No cracks or anything on it.
If the heater is set to OFF and then I turn it on, it will cycle several times and sometimes never 'catch' and will not heat. It'll just cycle once again.
However, once I get it heating, it will be just fine. For example, the heater has been on and running for a week or so. If I need to up the heat, no problem, it catches right away and will put out heat. Only problem is once it's off and I turned it on, it may come on or it might not.
Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance if you have any ideas

Sounds like the flame sensor. That is what mine did a month ago.

I did. It is very simple. Mine was a couple of wires went to the board and 2 mounting screws. I ordered from SupplyHouse.com and it was in the next day.

Love that store. They always have great stuff at fair prices.
Appreciate your input. I'll give it a whirl soon. Just need to find out model etc so it's an apples to apples swap.

Sounds like this. Had the same issues .
“Sounds like the flame sensor. That is what mine did a month ago.“
My old unit did this for years and HVAC guys told me it was the computer board. Switched out and worked for a short time. Had guys out multiple times and never fixed.
Ran across You Tube video about cleaning sensor with sandpaper. Did it and never had a problem again.

Mine was doing this often last year. Could hear the exhaust fan come on
I went up and observed the issue (pretty cool seeing the furnace fire live btw), talked to my HVAC guy, and we agreed was likely the flame sensor. He suggested cleaning it with some scotch brite/sand paper.
To be honest, I never got around to it before winter was over. I haven’t noticed the issue again this year.

Knowing the order of operations, you can probably deduce where it's failing. Sit next to it and watch what it's doing.
Order of operations:
1. Thermostat calls for heat
2. Inducer motor turns on
3. Pressure switch closes
4. Ignitor starts to glow
5. Gas valve opens
6. Burners ignite
7. Flame sensor detects flame
8. Burners stay on
9. 20 - 30 seconds later blower turns on

Is it a Goodman that flashes codes? The above should be helpful, and a code can confirm. For our upstairs heat, in 8 years it's been #3 4 times (I just take the sensor/switch out and blow it clear then put it back) and the ignitor once (replaced, easy). If the ignitor doesn't light up, it could either be that or the pressure sensor upstream of that step.

Def checked 1-7 and all were good. Did most with the multimeter.
#8 is where it gets dicey

But once it's on on, then no problem when it calls for an increase of heat. Comes right now.
