How to choose a garage floor coating contractor

Like many SoLa. people I have a 2-car open-wall carport with a 3rd area enclosed and with a pull-down door. That area started off 40 years ago as a simple shop but drifted to a multigenerational furniture dump dominated by mud daubers and geckos.
I'd like to return the area to a nice shop space, but find the floor covering task to be complicated. What do I need to consider when evaluating estimates to: clean, grind, fill flaws, then apply a good coating?
Advice?

My suggestion is choose an installer that uses a Polyaspartic coating and not an epoxy.

Look for any contractor that does concrete stamping….same prep for stamping as for coating.

We used Ninja, looks the same as it did when they installed it 4 years ago. Very impressed. I think they may be one of the most expensive but worth it in my opinion. FYI if you get a quote they negotiate. If I remember correctly I believe that I talked them down about $500.

i'm a fan of swisstrax plastic tile. DIY and you can take it with you. I;'ve had it in 2 garages so far and i love it. Most dirt goes right through the mesh and I vacuum it once a year with the shop vac. Water from wet cars goes through the mesh and evaporates on it's own time and I dont heaves to deal with puddles.

Thanks for useful advice. As with any coating good prep is the critical part. Now I just need to know which franchise pays the most attention to prep.

Call Derek at 301 flooring.
Uses the best equipment, is not a franchise, and does great work.

Get two quotes and use that as a talking point when negotiating with Ninja. Our garage looks great. Biggest pain in the arse was taking everything out of the garage. Threw a lot of stuff away.
