My wife, no pics, and I have been discussing getting some type of home security system. I already have plenty of cameras tied to my own camera server or NVR if you want to call it that. I am looking for recommendations on local monitoring companies that will use my cameras and then install and monitor a typical break-in sensor system, plus interface with my garage door openers. I have done a TD search and found lots of threads, and tons of opinions, but there doesn't seem to be a general consensus, other than the national providers are over priced and suck service wise. I have done some research and found one local company, I am sure there are others, that has been around since 1978, and seem to be pretty good. They are Alarm Center Baton Rouge. I was wondering if anyone has experience with them, good or bad, and if bad do you have another company you'd recommend over them? Of course I am not willing to replace my 4K cameras with their's, so the company needs to be flexible. TIA for any advice or info on companies to contact.

ETA: I have also posted this on the the Tech board.

Try my friend Eddie, owner of Baton Rouge Alarm. He installs even in Pierre Part/Belle River.

We used Fort Knox for camera/alarm install when building and use their monitoring service now. Very happy with their customer service. Think it’s maybe 30$/month. Ace Is the owners name on believe

I heard Vivint is good but the price point is high. ADT has good security but pricey as well. I've stated my thoughts on Simplisafe and will do it again. Entry cost is high but you only pay $30/mo for monitoring. They are quick to call when any alarm is set off. When you buy a new system you get a really good discount off the entire thing. Only thing is you can't add any devices to the system that aren't theirs. I wouldn't replace your camera system. Would you consider having both?

My house originally had The Alarm Center and all the old wires and sensors look terrible now. I like that Simplisafe has 3M tape to hold sensors. You do have the option to screw them on but tape works well. All battery powered. After 3 years I've only replaced 2 fire alarm batteries.

During power outages, the alarm does have a 24 hour battery. Very convenient in those events.

Thanks for the information, and yes, I will not replace my cameras with any security companies cameras. It is looking like my best route is to find a good local company and just go with a traditional alarm system and keep the cameras separate.

Check with Eddie, see if he can incorporate the two.
