Does anyone know of any nursery that sells Hickory trees around Baton Rouge area? My uncle has one on his property that has the best fall foliage of any tree I’ve seen. I’ve tried ordering some bare root from online nurseries that say they are zone 8/9 but haven’t had any success with them surviving.

Lots of species. You better figure out which he has. There's upland and bottomland as well.

They are pretty in fall but, they wreak havoc on lawnmower blades unless you pick up the nuts prior.
I live in northwest LA and they are everywhere around here.

Was going to say this. Some hickory trees are garbage, figure out exactly what you want. Have him not mow under it and grab a tree that pops up one year.

I’ve got an old one in my front yard. It is unbelievable the amount of nuts that get dropped.
And they are not readily accessible to get to the meat

I got a 70-75 footer in backyard. You probably want to rethink it.
