Hayward salt cells

Has anyone here had experience changing out salt cells in recent year or two?
I’m running a Tcell-9 that went out. My box panel shows I can run a T3, T5, T9, and T15. Seems most or all the local pool stores switched to selling newer model T940’s. I’m hoping I can use it and run it on the T15 setting, but I’m getting mixed answers and uncertainty.
Has anyone upgraded to this newer model? Are they interchangeable? If not I guess I’ll have to try to locate a T15 I suppose. I’d much rather just swap out the cell instead of having to change the whole panel with it.
TIA
ETA - my panel box is Hayward goldline AquaRite

Not sure of the number on mine, but found an exact replacement on Amazon, much cheaper than any pool store.

Have you tried cleaning the current cell? I took mine out this year (after 3 years) and soaked it in muratic acid/water. This worked well and it is now working fine.
Just wanted to pass along the info.

Yeah its clean. I soak it every time I clean the filters (~4-5 times a year). I just did a month or so ago.
Did some trouble shooting diagnostics and the polarity is out of whack between the two ends. So it’s a bad cell that needs to be replaced.
I’ve called different local supply stores who have differing views on if it would or should be compatible. And I can’t find the answer readily anywhere online. I tried calling Hayward customer support - I was on hold a while and it had me enter my number to call back. Still haven’t heard back.

When we changed our salt cell, we purchased the same model on amazon for less than quoted by a pool guy or a pool supply store.

I was planning to do that, but those older models aren’t available. And amazon has my old model at crazy stupid price well above the new models.
Anyway to conclude this thread... I was able to speak with 2 knowledgeable folks this afternoon who confirmed my panel is able to run the new salt cell model T-940. Apparently it still qualifies as a T-15 and is compatible and interchangeable and an improvement from priors.
I got it for cost from a supplier we know. Picking it up at 9am.

The 940 is a direct and upgraded replacement for the TCELL15. It has a greater amount of coating on the blades than the regular TCELL15.
Be cautious of generic versions. The coating used on the blades is very expansive to produce. Most of the generics use much less coating. This can cause your power supply to overheat over time and at the very least won’t last as long.
Ducky’s in Metairie is a dealer for Hayward. They most likely stock the 940. I sent a friend there a few weeks ago because he thought his cell was bad. They have a testing machine so they can verify before you replace it. Turned out in his case to be a bad circuit board.

You know about the warning of not taking it apart? Yeah, don't take it apart.
Clean with acid, as said.

940 is the new model. More efficient and longer lasting allegedly. Original T-15’s are pretty much out of stock including on amazon, etc.
The 940 still supposedly qualifies as a T-15, just a different name and model number.
I’ve run it all weekend under T-15 setting on my panel. So far so good.
