Having problems with shower not getting hot.

It gets warm but you have to stand right under it to feel it. Tankless heater, set to 130F. All other faucets have no problem reaching that temperature. Pressure is ok in it as well, could be higher.
I’m fairly certain that this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Anyone got any ideas what it could be?

I’ve got the opposite problem. My “cold” sits at 125 during these summer months for a solid 30 seconds

Bad cartridge valve.

This is what mine was when I had the problem I posted about here. As recommended I contacted Atta Boy plumbing in Baton Rouge and they fixed it.
The labor was reasonable but the part cost was high so my total cost was $795

You can change the cartridge in under 20 minutes with one you buy at Home Depot. Just look at the part number when you take out… need to stick with same brand/part number.
Turn the water off, take the handle off, replace cartridge. Make sure no leaks. They have settings on some of the cartridge too that can make it hotter, could have become misaligned.

they also sell rebuild kits with new seals and such. I did that with one of mine and it worked fine after. Saved me a lil bit of money.

Yeah we had yearly plumbing maintenance that’s “free” with service plan. They basically told me what would need to be done. But hundreds of dollars more for them to do it. So I just watched YouTube videos and did it myself for fraction of price. Now I think if stem or problems back in the piping then I would have needed plumber to get behind wall… but cartridge valve replacement anyone can do and you would be getting ripped off to pay a plumber to do it

I have a similar problem with both my showers currently.
In my kids' bathroom when we fill up their bath it is hit or miss, the water will get warm then cold over and over again and never stay hot, or it will work fine. One time it was doing it so I went outside and the tankless was cycling on and off every 2-3 seconds. No other faucet in my house causes it to do that.
In our master shower, it'll get hot, then randomly half way through a shower the tankless will shut off like it lost flow.
Before I call the plumber who installed the tankless I'm going to replace my cartridges.

just to cover the very basics, if you have a single handle shower valve, you have tried adjusting the cool/hot setting thats under the cap cover, right?
If faucets put out good hot water then you shouldn't have a WH problem. might try turning 3 of them on at same time and make sure they stay hot.

He took off the handle and showed me where someone else had tried to pull it off as well because it was pretty mangled. He had a certain removal tool that got it right out. The part cost was a majority of the cost of repair so I imagine it would have still cost me several hundred dollars to DIY.
He seems like a trustworthy guy who runs his own shop so I felt comfortable believing I wasn’t getting screwed.

Not sure what the problem you had or brand. You can get a special tool depending on brand you have… 10-15$ on amazon. Cartridge less than 50$. DYI cartridge replacement is certainly under 100$
