Painted ours

So did the wife and I two years ago. We actually like it because now we can swat bugs on the ceiling and not have the popcorn end up all over the floor and furniture.

I paid $2 sq ft in Mandeville 3 years ago. They scraped it, sanded it, mudded it, sanded again, painted. It was a huge mess. I have a larger home and in now way would I attempt it myself after watching it. They did it before we moved in and the house was empty.

Like others have said, it's a messy job. It's not "hard" to do, but you may regret starting on it.

IMO, bite the bullet and pay a painter to do it. You'll be happy you did.
