Glacier vs Heat Pump Chiller- Pool Recs

- New build BR area. 18x36 (3,6-5,6), inset spa (7x9)
- Pentair system , 3HP vsp, 520 filter
- Chiller is a must with our heat, I’m on the fence on which direction to go, either Glacier or a true heat pump (Pentair 140), the cost is about 4k difference
I’m asking for anyone’s experience with the Glacier (210) through this recent summer and if you felt it preformed well enough. I know our climate with the high humidity and dew point hinder this device’s optimum performance. On the contrary, any users of the heat pump
chiller side of things, cost to run, reliability, any issues etc?
My last question is regarding the automation area, PB specd EasyTouch system, which appears to be going obsolete this month (new sales, not support) anyone with the newer intellitouch system? Leaning towards that unit.
Anything else anyone has to offer I look at. Thanks

I didn’t put a chiller on my new pool. Outside of this summer I didn’t really need it. I had a heat pump on my last pool. A little smaller than yours but it had a black bottom and I loved my chiller. But the heater was a pain in the arse and took forever to heat even just the spa. I would have a gas heater with separate chiller.
I killed all the automation on my new pool. Too many problems. I don’t really miss it that much. I can go turn two valves and hit a button to turn on my spa. Not that hard.

I have an Aquacomfort HeatCool on my pool. I cant say I've used the chiller function more than once or twice, but it works just as well as the heat pump. It's very easy to cool water down vs heating water. I have white plaster on my pool, so it doesn't get very hot on its own. I think the hottest it got this summer was 93, which is uncomfortable for me, but my wife likes it so I left it alone. It has an almost neglible effect on my electric bill. I can run the heater in the fall or spring for a week straight and my bill is $40-50 higher.

Yea we have a separate NG heater for the spa. I mostly will use the heat pump/chiller to warm the pool on the shoulder seasons and cool it during the peak summer.
That’s the one advantage I see of a heat pump over the glacier is the ability to warm the whole pool albeit slowly, with the glacier would only be to able to cool peak summer. Trying gauge 4k in extra utility
