Water heater went down this evening. Walked in and do the normal checks like dust covering intake and such. Reset switch wasn’t tripped.
Kicked it to off and hit the pilot. Status light kicked on as normal and I turned to hot. It clicked on as if it was trying to fire the burner but it never started.
Kicked it off and let it set for a bit then tried again and it was dead. Pilot will light but valve never kicks back on.
So bad thermo or bad gas valve? To hell with Honeywell!!

Could be the thermocouple. How old is the heater? If it is older than 7 years, time to replace with new.

Was fixing to hit 7. Just out of warranty. Ended up replacing it.

Wait, a new thermo or a new heater???? My 2 are 17 years old and all I’ve done (since I bought the house in 2012) is change the thermo on one of them twice
