baffled as to why these companies even put out 18v lawn equipme

I have an 18v Ryobi blower. I have some Ryobi tools in the woodworking shop so already had the battery platform. Ots enough to blow my clippings and leaves after cutting grass. Outside of that, I'd never think of adopting an 18v platform for those tools. My chainsaw and string trimmer are still gas and going strong. If they crap out, I'll probably look at an EGO replacement.

Still not sold on the electric chainsaw though. I live in the woodlands and regularly have to cut up small trees and limbs. Have used shitty battery ones before, but never a quality on such as EGO.

I don't know why I got 3 downvotes for posting about my mowing experience. The performance this weekend was on par with how much I can mow on a single tank of gas with my old toro.

All the smooth brain gas boys are voting you down simply because they cannot fathom a situation where an electric mower is on par with a gas mower. They probably also think you're ruining American jobs by going electric.

i'm not against gas. i'm not out here hugging trees.

i just got a great deal on this mower and so i thought i'd keep an open mind.

its so lightweight its sickening. i feel like i upgraded my lawnmowing experience even not using the self-propel option because even w/ the Personal Pace on the Toro, you still have to manhandle that thing in tight areas and pull it backwards up an incline in some instances and its heavy as frick.

i'm always tired when finishing the yard and so i assumed i 100% needed the self-propelled option on the EGO but feel silly now. its nice and maybe the wife will use it but i prefer 'feeling' the cutting and controlling the speed. when i go over thick clover i hear the blades going crazy so i slow down so it can do extra chomping and then speed up on the grass parts that aren't as thick.

i can do the whole back yard in an hour now and don't feel the slightest bit fatigued.

That alone is worth the upgrade.

Then clean up is stupid easy. flip it on its side (no oil or gas to leak out) and hit it w/ a hose, fold it up and throw the battery on the charger.

its as easy to do a quick trim on a small area as it is to pull out my blower or string trimmer.

Those of you griping about problems with 18V and 20V yard tools are ignorant. Get at least 40V and no less than 60V for a mower and you'll love life.

I have a honda motor on a troybuilt deck and the motor is fantastic. I only use non-eth fuel in it. It's a 4 stroke, also, so no oil mix to screw up. I have had a yard guy for two years so it's hasn't been cranked in a while, but I guarantee you I could have it running in 5 pulls or less. I would not trade it in for an electric.

Weedeaters and edgers and blowers and sheers, on the other hand, I would love to trade those in for electric. And if I didn't pay someone to do my yard already, I would probably have traded up for electric by now.

For the basic cookie cutter house with a small lot, I’d look at electric. Anything else, gas all day, everyday. And it wouldn’t have to have a Honda engine. B&S are great engines too.

- EGO blower
- EGO string trimmer
- EGO chainsaw
- EGO hedge trimmer
- EGO edger
- EGO lawn mower
- dewalt drill

the mower is new and battery is not going to make it through front and back yard so i'll need a couple of the smaller batteries standing by so i can finish.

Looks like you need gas powered equipment

Why? It's 2 seconds to swap the second battery.. Quicker than getting the gas can which I have to do to finish the yard.

Just because you have 6 electric devices doesn’t mean you need 6 batteries.

Any lot where I felt it was too big for the battery I have, I'd be getting a riding mower. Then yes, that'd probably be gas.

I can cut my yard twice on a single charge. Have done it several times when I forgot to charge. It's not acreage, but it's not a small lot either. And again, if it was that big, I'd be riding.

I have a riding mower and choose to push an electric mower over 11,000 sq. feet. Why? Great cut and super easy.
To each his own.
