Are you serious?

What do you do with food waste? Put it in the trash?

Must smell nice after a while...

If you have to replace it, upgrade to a Waste King Legend 1 hp.

Garbage disposal is a plumbers best friend.

Have you been duck hunting? A 2 shot or BB steel shot will shut down a disposal.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago when I was cleaning ducks and a BB got lodged in it and I didn’t know. I took the whole thing out and saw it and used a tiny screwdriver and a magnet to remove it. Then took the opportunity to give it a good cleaning. Works fine now. It’s pretty easy to remove a garbage disposal

People don’t NEED a dishwasher or a clothes dryer either but it sure as hell is nice to have them.

Replace it. It’s literally a 30 minute job at most. $130 including tax at HD

Is there a big difference between 5/8 and 3/4 hp on a garbage disposal?

Bigger motor = better grinding. If you cook a lot-go with 3/4. If you don’t cook that often-once a week or less-go with the 5/8.

This is why there is a garbage can outside. Quite useful.

As previously stated, rock the allen wrench back and forth and use some type of extension for additional torque.

Decide if the garbage disposal is necessary. Mine broke several years ago and I did not replace it. Haven't missed it one bit--and no problem with odors, those items go into the outside garbage can, not the indoor can.

Could not get it to budge. At all. Nothing in the disposal itself.

Went and bought the 3/4 HP evolution yesterday.
